Norton Avenue Films is a bijou
production company established in 2006 by Douglas Spain
and Sonya Jones and named after the street they both
grew up on. Their interest in filmmaking began at
younger age when they would shoot home movies on a VHS
camcorder that belonged to Spain's mother. Spain pursued
his passion for filmmaking as an actor.
After his successful 14-year experience
within the entertainment industry, Spain partnered up
with Jones to create the company’s unique short film
Online. The film brought together such established
artists as Ani DiFranco, who contributed her hit song
“Little Plastic Castle” for the film, as well as Monique
Coleman of High School Musical fame. Online
went on to premiere at the Calgary International Film
Festival in Canada and later screened at various others
including the Los Angeles Latino International Film
Festival.
Norton Avenue Films' goal is to make
diverse, entertaining films with a fresh perspective.
Online delivered on these results. The company has
continued this tradition with the development of its
first feature film Remains, from a script written
by Jones to be directed by Spain. Through cinema we can
express ourselves as artists, share our vision with the
world and evoke thought.
